Beach Rock, California.
Winter waves crash upon a black sandy beach tucked below rocky coastal cliffs.
Knockers, too big to be called boulders and too small to be mapped, are a common type of mélange rock found in coastal regions. These rocks are a result of tectonic subduction in the Mesozoic Era (roughly 250 million years ago). This region was originally inhabited by the Kumeyaay peoples.
